Zenith bank launches first ever banking clinic for tertiary students

Zenith Bank (Ghana) Ltd has introduced a pioneering Banking Simulation and Training Centre, termed the "Zenith Bank – Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Banking Clinic," at Kumasi Technical University in the Ashanti Region. This innovative facility aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical banking experience for tertiary students pursuing Banking and Finance studies.

Simulated Banking Environment: The clinic replicates a standard Zenith Bank branch, featuring customer service desks, funds transfer areas, cash and teller points, offices for branch and relationship managers, money-counting machines, computers, and an electronic safe mimicking a vault.

Digital Integration: Equipped with modern technology, the facility emphasizes electronic banking (e-banking), ensuring students are adept with current digital banking trends.

Comprehensive Learning Resources: The clinic includes money-counting machines, computers, an electronic safe, a flat-screen TV for displaying treasury rates and bank advertisements, and mock regulatory displays, creating a conducive learning environment.

Practical Skill Development: The clinic provides students with hands-on experience in various banking operations, enhancing their readiness for the workforce.

Industry-Academia Collaboration: This initiative fosters a strong partnership between Zenith Bank and KsTU, ensuring that students are well-prepared to meet industry standards upon graduation.

At the commissioning ceremony, Mr. George Imbrah, Divisional Head of Zenith Bank Ghana, highlighted the initiative's role in easing the transition from academic studies to professional banking practice. He noted that the clinic offers students practical experience, exposure to digital technology, and insights into current banking trends, ensuring they graduate with a solid understanding of banking operations.

Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, emphasized the clinic's alignment with the university's mission to provide competency-based training. He stated that the facility allows students to engage in real banking operations, integrating digital banking practices, thus preparing them for real-world challenges.

This collaboration between Zenith Bank and Kumasi Technical University marks a significant advancement in practical banking education, setting a precedent for similar initiatives in the future.
