Premix Fuel Explosion in Ngyirasia, Essikado-Ketan: Two Dead,

14 Others Battle for Their Dear Lives

The tragedy that struck Ngyirasia a suburb in the Essikado-Ketan constituency on Sunday, May 19, 2024 has resulted in the untimely demise of two young individuals, aged seven and fifteen following a premix fuel explosion.

Despite efforts by the medical staff at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, they both passed away within hours. The two deceased individuals, identified as Joseph Adom, 15 years, and Justice Dadzie, 7 years both succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Essikado-Ketan, was among the medical team striving to save the remaining victims as she donated surgical supplies to aid in their treatment.

The incident highlights the dangers faced by fishermen in Ngyirasia who lack proper access routes to transport premix fuel safely to the beach. This particular consignment was sourced from elsewhere due to scarcity, underscoring the urgent need for safer transportation methods.

The tragedy echoes a similar incident in the region, serving as a somber reminder of the risks involved in such activities.
