Electoral Commission Cannot Be Trusted: NDC's Seth Ankrah Declares, Affirms Party's Commitment to Safeguard Ghanaian Lives
In a bold and emphatic statement, Hon. Seth Ankrah of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has voiced strong concerns over the trustworthiness of Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC). Addressing a crowd of supporters at a rally in Accra, Ankrah accused the EC of partisanship and pledged that the NDC will be vigilant to oversee the electoral processes to ensure fairness and transparency.
"The Electoral Commission cannot be trusted: We the NDC will match them at every step. We cannot risk the lives and futures of Ghanaians in the hands of the NPP government", Ankrah declared.
Ankrah's comments come amid growing tensions between the NDC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the country gears up for the upcoming general elections. The NDC has repeatedly raised alarms about what they perceive as the EC's bias against the party, a charge the EC has consistently denied.
"Our democracy is at stake. We have seen too many irregularities and biased actions from the Electoral Commission. It is our duty to protect the will of the people and ensure that every Ghanaian vote is counted fairly and accurately", Ankrah added.
The NDC's stance has struck a chord with many of its supporters, who have expressed fears about electoral malpractices. Ankrah reassured them that the party willdeploy all necessary resources and personnel to monitor the electoral process rigorously.
"The NDC is committed to a peaceful and democratic Ghana. But we will not sit idly by and allow any entity to undermine our electoral system. We urge all Ghanaians to remain vigilant and to support us in this crucial fight for our nation's integrity", he emphasized.
The NPP, on the other hand, has dismissed the NDC's claims as unfounded and politically motivated. In a brief statement, an NPP spokesperson reiterated the party's confidence in the EC and urged the opposition to focus on constructive campaigning rather than "baseless accusations."
As the election date draws closer, the political climate in Ghana is expected to heat up further. With Hon. Seth Ankrah's strong words resonating among the NDC faithful, the stage is set for a contentious and closely watched electoral battle.
