Ejisu By-Election Must Be An Eye Opener To Us; Let's Unite Or

Perish Come December 7 - ProfAmeyaw-Akumfi To NPP

A member of the NPP National Council of Elders, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi has called on his beloved party to let the outcome of the just ended Ejisu by-election be an eye opener for them ahead of the crucial December 7 general elections.

The NPP's Lawyer Kwabena Boateng retained the Ejisu Constituency Parliamentary Seat for the ruling party on Tuesday with 27,782 votes representing 55.8% while his main contender, Hon. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi also from the NPP but contested as an Independent Candidate pulled 21,537 votes representing 43.3%.

But the turn of events from the constituency made it clear that disunity and apathy was very high amongst the NPP Family which made the National Chairman, Stephen Ayensu Ntim declaring his dissatisfaction with the results and promised to exert effort to reconnect Owusu Aduomi to NPP.

Speaking in an interview, Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi, a former MP and Education Minister who is currently the Board Chairman of Public Procurement Authority of Ghana (PPA) said he fully endorses the call by the National Chairman for reconciliation not only in Ejisu Constituency but throughout the entire country wherever there may be internal wranglings within the party.

Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi continued that though the timing for the effort may not make it easy, it will be worth it to right their wrongs and bring everybody on board before things get out of hands.

He said what is revealing is the inability of some NPP members to suppress their selfishness and accept compromise, stressing that "the writing is on the wall,

NPP needs to UNITE OR PERISH".
