challenges, the club, owned by Mr. Kurt Edwin Simone-Okraku, who is the current
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), have continually strived for
excellence.
Under
the astute leadership of Coach Abdul Karim Zito, Dreams FC earned a historic
spot in African competitions, qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup after a
triumphant victory in the 2022/2023 MTN FA Cup season.
Placed
in Group C alongside renowned teams such as Club Africain, Rivers United, and
AC Lobitho, Dreams FC showcased their prowess and determination topping the
group with an impressive 13 points.
Their
journey to the knockout rounds was met with fierce competition, but Dreams FC's
resilience prevailed securing them a coveted spot in the next phase of the
tournament.
In
a historic quarterfinal clash against Stade Malien, Dreams FC delivered a
remarkable performance emerging victorious and etching their name in the annals
of Ghanaian football history. Their triumph marked a significant milestone as
they became the first Ghana Premier League team to secure an away victory in a
CAF continental competition since Accra Hearts of Oak.
Dreams
FC were drawn against FC Zamalek in the semi-final. FC Zamalek hosted Dreams FC
in the first league which ended in a goalless draw. Dreams FC goalkeeper,
Solomon Agbesi’s stellar performance kept his team in the tie.
Now,
as they gear up to face FC Zamalek in the second league of the semifinals,
Dreams FC are calling for the unflinching support of Ghanaians. In a bold move
to rally the nation behind them, the club announced that they would open the
gates of Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi for free on April 28, 2024. This
gesture is a testament to their belief in the power of unity and collective
support as they strive to overcome formidable opponents and secure victory in
the CAF Confederation Cup.
With
